The World’s Healthiest Foods.

I’m always on the lookout for unbiased and sound information on smoothie ingredients and foods in general. There’s so much rubbish and misinformation published on the internet that I sometimes despair at ever finding details I can trust.

WHFoods.com is a very popular website I’ve learnt to count on over the years and is one of the first places I turn to when researching smoothie ingredients (the other is The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods that I’ve reviewed previously … not surprising as two of the same people are involved with both enterprises).

WHFoods.com (or the “World’s Healthiest Foods” as it’s known) is both not-for-profit and ad free resource that…

“…can help provide clear and easy-to-understand knowledge on how people of all ages and backgrounds can achieve and maintain their optimum physical, mental and emotional health and well-being”

The information is backed up by the latest scientific evidence (with references) and is typically unbiased (in my biased opinion :) ). There are a panel of doctors and nutritionists that review each entry to make sure that each claim can be verified.

The bit I use the most are the individual sections for each fruit and vegetable (for an example click here to see the one for spinach). These are broken down into easy to understand sections such as the health benefits, recommendations, nutrients, concerns, history, storing, cooking etc. All with extensive references.

A lot of time and effort has been put into this site … and it shows!

There’s tons more to the website: articles, food advice, recipes, Q&As, etc. Also a great weekly newsletter.

Highly recommended.
