Kiwi Fruit.

Originally from China, these fruits are just about everywhere now – although they do tend to be quite expensive.

I like them because they have a very distinct taste – which makes them perfect for adding to smoothies. They can be quite sour when unripe – so you have to be careful if you don’t like that. I enjoy the kick and often use unripe ones.

Most people seem to peel them first. I don’t bother. I just scrub the hairs off under the tap, then top and tail them to remove the two ends. The skins will disappear in the blender so you won’t notice.

So – not an everyday fruit. But one that can be used to great affect.
