Pineapple.

Pineapple is a unique fruit – which makes it all the more interesting.

The plant contains an enzyme called bromelain which turns out to be very good for the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Bromelain is concentrated in the thick core of the pineapple – so don’t miss that part out.

Nutritionally the fruit is especially full of manganese – which plays a very important role in the absorption of calcium and the development of bones. So pineapple is often paired with calcium rich vegetables such as kale and spinach.

Pineapple blends well and has a moderate taste.

It can be bought whole or pre-prepared. You should try and get it whole so that you can include as much of the core as you can.
