Cream and Milk.
Given the popularity of milkshakes – you would have thought that milk and cream would appear in more smoothie recipes than they do. This paucity might be down to the tainted image of dairy products. However, personally, I don’t see anything wrong with them – and I’m lactose intolerant (but looove them!).
So, I’m going to include a number recipes that contain these – including one of my favourites: Apple Crumble.
Cream, and to a lesser degree milk, give smoothies a special taste that nothing else can match. They can make an everyday smoothie into a real treat.
You normally don’t need very much – as the taste is quite strong. Also, you normally put these in near the end of the blending process – an ideal time to quickly taste the smoothie and adjust the ingredients.
