Everyone has their own version of this classic – this is mine…
- ½ cup ripe mango
- ½ cup papaya – no seeds
- 1 small banana (or ½ large)
- 1 lime – juice only
- Chunk of ginger root
- ½ cup iced water
This smoothie is based on the classic dish of papaya, lime and ginger … if you’ve not tried it then please do – it’s delicious.
To make this into a smoothie I’ve added some mango and banana. Don’t put too much banana in as it will dominate the taste – both mango and papaya are fairly delicate tastes. The lime adds a nice edge and you need to be generous with it … the root ginger adds some heat.
Serve chilled on a hot summers day – preferably in the Caribbean
