Hush-Hush Broccoli.

A balanced and tasty smoothie that just happens to have broccoli in it … but don’t tell anyone!

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 4 dried apricots
  • ½ cup pineapple
  • 1 cup broccoli
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup water

After four failures – it’s wonderful to have a recipe that works really well!

Put the water, sesame seeds and dried apricots in the blender first and give 30 seconds. This will break these down into a nice base – ready for the rest of the ingredients. I use dried apricots as they are available year round and normally sweeter than the fresh ones.

I’m using purple broccoli here. But you can use any type that’s available where you are.

The result is a wonderful smoothie. The taste is on the dry side – and not sweet. It does taste a little ‘green’ from the broccoli – but nothing that’s unpleasant. It’s actually really well balanced and very drinkable. Having an energetic feel to it.

I’ve made this a few times now. It’s become one of my favourites.
